Samba is about emotion, it is also about motion.
Earlier this year a group of women came to one of our Fiesta and set fire to the dance floor.
The other guests and us were wondering who they were and how come they could dance so well.
After few investigations by inspector Mr. Shakira, we discovered that in fact these creatures of fire where actually professional samba dancers and that were part of a group called Simply Samba.
We thought it could be great to invite them to our launch party in Rubylo and they accepted.
The result is a show that we will never forget!

On Friday 14th November we will bring the hottest Brazilian music to you in London and will blend it to other funky tropical and global beats.
We will play 4 music type with african origin from there, Forró, Axé, Bailé Funk also called Funk Carioca and Samba.
You will note that many people there love local Pop or international Pop or the national Rock music. the charts.
Forró and Axé are originated North-Eastern part of the country and are very popular in the state of Bahia and its capital Salvador.
Before anything Forró is a dance and it can be danced in a way which is similar to salsa with one step forward and one step backward. To be honest the closer the sexier! Here is a demo

Axé music is born in the 80s and is relatively modern. It’s percussion based and accompanied by a simple melody on which the singer performs a festive solo.
Banda Eva which used to be lead by Ivete Sangalo, Daniela Mercury, Chiclete com Banana have popularised this genre that is becoming renowned at international level.

Samba is from Rio but the legend says that the people from the Nordeste (North East) who emigrated there have introduced it to the Cariocas, Rio’s inhabitants.
You will find a lot of info about samba on the internet also we won’t tell you too much about it expect that there are various type of samba and one of the most renowned is called ‘Pagode’. Here are some songs that we love:

Bailé Funk too is from Rio more precisely the favelas (ghettos) perched on the hills that bound the city.
You guessed it, drugs, gangs and criminality prevails there. The hardship that the youth, mainly of African descent, living there endures has generated this music which is hardcore in its full sense. Similarly to the Hip Hop this music has diluated as it spread to become more accessible. To dance is you just have to ‘wine‘ as you would on Dancehall or Reggaeton.
