Our party Sunday Bailante on April 13th brought us in Brazil for a little tour of its popular music.

We listened to some beautiful loungey music, Maria Rita and the first song of her new internationally acclaimed album Samba Meu. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpL9FTH0s0I

Two other great songs from the same album are:

Casa ne noca

and Maltratar nao é direito http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vplIdpctt0g

We went on dancing to the local music of the Nordeste called ForrÓ .

This simplified cousin of salsa is very sensual to dance. Driven by the sounds of drums and accordion you can get carried away.

There are many types of ForrÓ   but the two types prevailing at the moment are Universitario and Pé de Serra. Falamansa, Rastapé and Avioes de ForrÓ  are probably the most successful bands at the moment.

Here are some good songs from Falamansa:

Confidência http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1umT8V402rg

Cem anos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXGv7pmN8F4

Amar até

We then moved on to the world famous Samba. We think one of the most beautiful Samba song ever is Canto das tres Racas from Clara Nunes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yw5L5exltgU

Another great is Identidate from Jorge Aragão (an ok version is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7lbyvHzL-I )

On the modern side you’ve got Terra Semba with Liberar Geral http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0XfjhNXM_c

We haven’t covered MPB and Axé this time but will do in another post!

Tudo Bem?
