Outside of Salsa, Cumbia, and Vallenato. You may listen to the afro-latin sounds from the pacific coast of Colombia.
Very often this music might share similar sounds to afro-rumba but a new breed of musicians have created something a bit different a bit more modern.
The Latin alternative sounds, the most famous band is Sidesteppers with songs like Mas Papaya they have come with another very funky song….the name of the song is Deja (leaving).
A newer band is Choc Quib Town which is often rapping on some more ethnic sounds. Here is one song you might like, El Bombon

Champeta is the new sound from Colombia. The African originated Colombians living on the Caribbean coast have created this music mixing African sounds, Colombian folk and urban computer-based rhythms.
San Basilio de Palenque, where many of the Champeta singers were born is the last village founded by the ‘Cimarons’, slaves escaped from the plantations. It has been declared Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. The people there speak there own language ‘Crillio de Palenque’.
Champeta is still at a very early stage but like Reggaeton, we expect it to explode in the next 10 years.
