Explosive will be the ‘Brazilian Carnival Show’ of Simply Samba at Fiesta Sun Bailante Friday 28^th May.

Learn your first steps of Samba and Baile Funk at 9pm to warm up for this torrid night of tropical sweetness.

Your Dj’s Jerome and Shakit joined by Afro-Romanzo and Keita will set the dancefloor ablaze with Latin, Caribbean, African sounds and more. Salsa, Reggaeton, Reggae Dancehall, Latin House, Merengue, Tropipop, Cumbia, Coupe Decale and more and more and more

Hello,

Sun Bailante will be 2 years old in November. Also we are working on a very special birthday party in a new venue and the date will be announced soon.

It will be our last event for 2009 as we are going on holidays in the tropical island of Reunion after that.

We won’t have the monthly party at Rubylo and it will start again in 2010.

Smoothies this week with some lovely tunes

After a weekend of Colombian vibes all over our ears… we have decided to calm down a little bit and to listen to some dulce (sweet) songs that you may never have heard of also here is a selection of beautiful suave gentle smoothies….

The first one is from the Brazilian singer Vanessa da Mata from her last album Sim with a fusion of Forró and Caribbeanism…as Sly andRobbie the reggae artists seem to have helped for this album…

We love it the name of the song Pirraça

The second song is from Oliver N’Goma the Gabonese singer of zouk this music originated from the French Caribbean islands which has spread to Africa.

Oliver is famed for many of his songs amongst them Bane or Alphonsine but few years ago he came with another beautiful act ‘Adia’.

Finally the song O’sanam O’sanam from the film Jurm

Anyway we are now on the way to Portugal to dance to the Agolan and Cape Verdean Kizomba so you should have some songs in Portuguese very soon here!

Samba is about emotion, it is also about motion.

Earlier this year a group of women came to one of our Fiesta and set fire to the dance floor.

The other guests and us were wondering who they were and how come they could dance so well.

After few investigations by inspector Mr. Shakira, we discovered that in fact these creatures of fire where actually professional samba dancers and that were part of a group called Simply Samba.

We thought it could be great to invite them to our launch party in Rubylo and they accepted.

The result is a show that we will never forget!

Cap Verde the musical Brazil of Africa

Let’s visit Cap Verde! This beautiful archipelago located off the west coast of Africa has a Brazilian feel to it but is more mysterious and could surprise more than one.

Music there is a national skill, and since the eighties its reputation as cradle for talented musicians spreading to the world.

Cesaria Evora was the first artist to become renowned internationally, since then many have followed, amongst them Sarah Tavares, Maria Andrade and Susanna Lubrano.

Today, we would like to celebrate singers and bands from this island who are less famous but still have created some amazing songs Os Tubaroes and Terezinha Araujo.

The video above is from Os Tubaroes and the song’s name is Ask Xanana. The style of music is Coladeira.

Last Fiesta Sun Bailante at Salmon and Compass Fri 13th March 09

It’s Valentine’s day everyday for Sun Bailante. We have put together our favourite romantic songs. We hope they will make you feel loved…

Under the rainbow/A beautiful world is the cover from Israel “Iz” Kaʻanoʻi Kamakawiwoʻole. This Hawaiian singer and guitarist, now deceased, had blended together two very famous songs making an unforgettable ballade that is fresh, optimist and sad at the same time.

The second song is Tabaco y Chanel from the Bacilos a Colombian rock band that immigrated to the States. The lyrics: the smell of tobacco and Chanel reminds me the one of your skin…

La pli si tol from Chiktay, the rain falling on the roof makes me feel I want to hold you in my arms… This band was a famous band of Zouk in the 80’s in the French Caribbean islands.

Habib Koite’s Batoumande tell the story of an impossible love between souls from different tribes in Malian language.

Pensar Em Voce ‘thinking of you’ from the Brazilian singer Daniela Mercury.

Finally, what’s better than a good Bollywood film to find love and drama. Here is Janam one of the top soundtracks from the Veer Zaara the Indian blockbuster.
